Excessive Social Media Can Harm New Relationships
A recent study at the University of Missouri, found that excessive use of Facebook can harm romantic relationships, leading to emotional and sexual cheating, conflict, breakup and divorce. Especially among newer partnerships of less than three years, spending a lot of time connecting with other people, can undermine your new relationship by causing jealousy, anger and arguments, that can lead to divorce. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing. A moderate, healthy level of Facebook and other social media usage can help reduce conflict, especially when you’re in a more fragile, insecure, new relationship. And remember, what seems moderate to one person may seem excessive to another. Honor your partner’s feelings, criteria, needs, and point of view, in the service of a strong, successful, happy and healthy relationship.
