A Third of Married Couples Meet Online
Traditionally, married couples meet through work, school, friends, relatives, religious gatherings, or a common hobby or other shared activity. But maybe it’s easier to find someone with whom we have a lot in common, increasing our chances of success, when we have thousands of people from which to choose, rather than just the few we can meet in person. Meeting online has become an increasingly common way to find a partner, according to research at the University of Chicago. Whether through dating sites like Match.com, social networks like Facebook, games or virtual worlds, research shows that couples not only meet online far more frequently than before, they’re also more likely to be more satisfied and have lower breakup rates than relationships that began in person.
